June 17, 2010 - 7:30 pm Crossing Over Dancing Between Classical & Jazz
About this concert
In this concert, Amicus explores "Cross Over" music. Cross Over is a term used to describe a performer or composer who bridges the gap between different genres of music. An example is an opera singer who creates an album of jazz standards. Amicus has always enjoyed crossing over to the Jazz realm. In this concert we explore that in more depth. You'll hear classical works and jazz works as originally created by their composers plus variations and improvised creations that fall somewhere between pure classical and jazz.
Music by Bach, Chopin, Gershwin, Brubeck, Miller and more.

Amicus performs "Rising" on a $181,000 Fazioli Grand piano at the ChanCentre
A tremendous opportunity presented itself on April 15, 2009. The Amicus Music Duo had a spur-of-the-moment chance to record and video tape my composition "Rising". This piece, of all my compositions, never fails to turn heads when we perform it. A huge thanks to Manuel Bernaschek, owner of Showcase Pianos for making this possible.
